Spring Artwork

Spring is here! Below are some projects we have done this semester. Enjoy!

1st Grade- Spring windsock: students learned about form when making this 3D project.

Kindergarten- Patterned Serapes: students used pattern when decorating their serapes. We watched a Brain Pop Jr. On Mexico, the teacher folded the papers and drew a simi circle on the fold for the students to cut out. Last they fringed the bottom of their sarape. Wearable Art: Ole!

My 3rd Grade Art Club made hats and beards for St. Patrick's Day!

3rd Grade Chinese Dragons: students folded red paper in half and cut a mask shape with holes for their eye. We then cut a smaller square out of a red square for the jaw. White paper strips were cut into teeth. Black paper was used for a nose, mustache, and eyebrows. Yellow paper made the beard. Last we traced our hands on warm color paper and glued around the top. So feirce!

4th Grade Snowball Fight: students learned about the concept of foreshortening. We started by tracing their hand. From there we drew a u shape head with a hat on top behind the hand. We added a rectangle body. The students followed me (the teacher) as I drew the arms and legs. Students drew a horizon line and added winter time details showing space. Heads up!

Art Around the World Art Show

Had to post about our Art Around the World Art Show!
It went great. We had it in conjunction with Grandparent's Night and the book fair, so the turn out was awesome! The kitchen also provided cookies and lemonade which was fun! Each hall was a different continent, and the kids earned stamps in their "passports" for answering two trivia questions per continent. The answers were found by looking at the art, or reading the descriptions of the art. I tried to make sure each student had at least 2 pieces of art in the show, and there was at least one project per grade level in each hall (6 or more projects per continent) so that people would move around the whole school. Enjoy your "tour"!
